Seohyo has broadened her daily coding routine into generative art. She crafts diverse animations, ranging from mathematically imagined shapes to those inspired by natural elements. Her creations have been displayed on urban billboards in cities such as Utrecht, Tokyo, Singapore, Hangzhou, and more.
Seohyo는 일상적인 사물을 미디어 기술과 결합하여 낯설게 만들고, 이를 통해 평범한 사물을 새로운 방식으로 인식하게 하는 설치 및 퍼포먼스 기반 작업을 해왔습니다. 최근에는 팬데믹 기간 동안 불안을 잠재우기 위한 하나의 의식으로 매일 코딩 작업을 업로드하던 데일리코딩 프로젝트를 중심으로, 수학적으로 상상한 모양이나 자연에서 영감을 얻은 다양한 애니메이션을 제작합니다. 그녀의 작품은 서울, 인천, 위트레흐트, 도쿄, 싱가포르, 항저우, 하트포드 등의 도시 전광판에 소개되었습니다.
Rotating Dots: 64 Quadrangles
It consists of 64 quadrangles connected by 81 dots, moving in a circle around a fixed point. Every dot is assigned a value from a sine wave at varying times, creating a rotating motion at different speeds, so each dot occupies a unique position within the same motion. Humans tend to group similar or nearby objects, perceiving different patterns based on their arrangement. The individual movements merge to form a dynamic three-dimensional shape, highlighted by white lines on a black background. Instead of focusing on the final image, I concentrate on the process, gradually adding rules to generate the image. This work contrasts the methodical rules used by the computer to create the image with the subjective interpretation by the human brain.

The artwork begins with a random point in space, where circles emerge, pulsating with a steady rhythm of expansion and contraction. As these circles grow, they gradually approach and intersect with neighboring circles, leading to a seamless fusion that forms larger, more intricate shapes. These shapes resemble the organic patterns found in agate rocks, where layers of color and form blend together in natural harmony. The oscillation of the circles mirrors the ebb and flow of natural rhythms, evoking a sense of both unity and transformation. Through this continuous cycle, Oscillation_H captures the essence of change and connection, embodying the beauty of harmonious interaction in an ever-evolving space.
